Guillerval
Guillerval is a common French, located in the department of the the Essonne and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is called Guillervalois and Guillervaloises.
Geography
The commune is served by a station (halt) on the line Paris - Orleans.
History
The name of Guillerval appeared for the first time in the charter of 635 - to this date the city is given to the abbey of Saint-Denis. Later, Guillerval is set up in “high châtellenie”. But the abbey of Saint-Denis must divide its territory - great strongholds are then created. Some concern the abbey of Saint-Denis, others of the counts d' Étampes, others still of various suzerains. During the 16th century Guillerval raises of the capacity of the baillif d' Étampes. In 1962, when the Army of the Princes is locked up in Étampes, the borough undergoes the civil war and plundering. The area knows terror during 6 weeks. The plague which one calls " the contagion" declares itself. On the 300 inhabitants whom account the village, 150 are indexed died. Saint-Vincent de Paul lavishes its care with the unhappy one.The local economy was especially dominated by the culture throughout the centuries. The arable lands were not rich in the valley and the slopes, it was the " Beauce pouilleuse" On the plate, the ground was of better quality, already the Romans cultivated it. Today, the mechanization and the new techniques of culture, Guillerval takes into account nothing any more but five farms. New activities developed on the two zones of activities. At the beginning of the 20th Guillerval century also saw being born and developing aviation in Mondésir. The aerodrome of Mondésir which was soldier has today a primarily tourist civil vocation with nevertheless 80.000 movements per annum.
