Guillermo Otis
Grand-Quevilly is a common French, located in the department of the Seine-Maritime and the area High-Normandy.
Geography
History
1195: Donation with the Old people's homes of Rouen of the field of Large Aulnay (in edge of the the Seine) in the south of the commune by Richard Lion-hearted.
1154: Grand-Quevilly is acquired by the lord Charles de Becdelièvre, then Master of the Grenier to salt of Rouen.
Fine XVIIIe: Construction of the castle of Grand-Quevilly by the marquis Pierre-Jacques-Louis de Becdelièvre. It was usually called the castle of Montmorency, of the name of prince de Montmorency, husband of Henriette de Becdelièvre. Its library and certain pieces of furniture were sold with the biddings in 1941.
1793 The communal life is organized around a communal general advice transformed soon into council of the common revolutionist of Grand-Quevilly. In 1794, a team is selected for the destiny of the commune. She is directed by André Boutigny, who will take in 1800 the title of " provisional mayor " , before the arrival of Germain Delamare, first mayor of the commune and which remained it until 1814.
1870 The Prussian invade the commune. Soldiers are prisoners in the castle of Grand-Quevilly, where was installed a Prussian general headquarter.
Of 1882 to 1899 Progress takes place: indicative plates and houses are installed; a school for boys is built; creation of a boulevard of industry and, in 1894, of a Shipyard, where the ship (Pétrolier) famous will be built: the Quevilly .
Of 1939 to 1944
During the Second world war, the immigrants leave, the factories are then disorganized, but of the soldiers give the labor. In 1944, the city is released. Meanwhile, the mayor Tony Larue is relieved of his functions and is replaced.
1947 , Tony Larue becomes again mayor and makes build HLM and a public library.
1953 to 1977 Construction of shopping houses, center, center town, and inauguration of the Town hall.
1977 Tony Larue calls upon the young person Laurent Fabius (then principal private secretary of François Mitterrand) to complete the construction of the city. Since appeared a music school, a library, a theater (Théâtre Charles Dullin) and a crib.
1986 François Mitterrand, then president of the Republic, is accommodated by Laurent Fabius.
1995 Tony Larue dies. Laurent Fabius takes his place of mayor and Marc Massion becomes senator.
1996 at our days Many modifications are born, Gaz de France settles, of the places are modernized; the park of the Provinces is created (it was rewarded with the Marianne d' Or). South III (way connecting Grand-Quevilly to Rouen) is created, the library becomes media library and is renovated. Opening of the Zenith of Rouen in 2000 and Marc Massion becomes mayor.
On Thursday, May 4, 2006, the Tower water, which was an emblem of the city, is destroyed.

Habits
- In June, there is Bakayades: it is a series in concerts and cinema in the open air every weekend. A known or rather famous artist (like Stephan Eicher in 2004 or Michel Delpech in 1999, or Hubert Felix Thiéfaine in 2006) passes in concert one evening, in the park of the Provinces, at the time of a festival which ends in a sumptuous fireworks.

In spring, on the Park of the Provinces, there are free film projections on a giant screen. In 2002, the two projected films were: Matrix Reloaded , and cruel Invasions .
Transport
The city is served by the Métro of Rouen and the buses of TCAR.
