Artemis Fowl is the central figure of the series bearing its name written by Eoin Colfer and translated into French by Jean-François Ménard.

The universe is drawn from the Irish legends, with opposite course to the usual stereotypes, with characters human and attaching.

Artemis Fowl will be adapted to the cinema. Last script would have been rejected by Eoin Colfer which found that there was too much action and not enough of deepening of the characters.

Synopsis

Artemis Fowl is 12 years old in the first volume. It is a genius which puts its talents at the service of the Crime: his/her father, missing for two years at the time of the shipwreck of the ship Arctic Fowl Star in , had been an important character in the medium of the crime. Artemis, in the search of a not very used seam to pile up money, discovered the secret existence up to that point held of the People of the Fées. To arrive to its ends, it spine to decipher the Book of the People (Fairies), written in foreign language (the gnomique one), in order to discover the means of extorting the famous Gold to them fairies. He does not hesitate a moment to take as an hostage the first fairy which he meets, Holly Short, captain of the FAR (Armed forces of Regulation - become FARfadet thereafter: Armed forces of Regulation and Air Fairies of Detection), and elf of the more coriaces. The young boy, playing unceasingly of his incredible allied intelligence to the force and the science of the weapons of his Butler bodyguard, will change little by little in contact with the fairies, and will mature with the wire of the adventures which he will know at the sides of Holly Short.
