Scipion Émilien ( Publius Cornelius Scipio Æmilianus Africanus minor ), also known as the Second African , or Scipion Numantin was a general and Roman statesman , born in 185 before J. - C., and died in 129 before J. - C. He was the son of Paul Emile the Macedonian and the small adoptive son of Scipion the African.
Initially military Powerful orator in Spain, then Consul, it gave the decisive attack at the time of the seat of Carthage in 149 before J. - C. and makes it shave three years later. At the time of the seat of Numance, in Spain, it poses the first bases of the Praetorian Garde.
Opposing to the land reform, it publicly approved the assassination of his brother-in-law Tiberius Gracchus.
But it is more known for its mental activities in the Cercle of Scipions than political. One knows his friendship with the historian Polybe. He was also a guard of the playwright Terence. Scipion even made give a representation of the Adelphes at the time of the funeral ludi at the time of death of his/her father Paul Emile the Macedonian in 160 before J. - C.
One of its political enemies, C. Memmius, claimed besides that Scipion Émilien was the true author of the comedies of Terence.
