Guillaume the Marshal
Guillaume the Marshal ( William Marshall in English) (towards 1145 - 1219, Caversham), English knight, 1st count de Pembroke, count de Longueville. Tournoyeur considered, it is called “best the knight world”.
Biography
He is the son of Jean the Marshal and Sybille de Salisbury, his second wife. The nickname of Maréchal goes up with his Gilbert grandfather the Marshal, Maréchal of the court of the king Henri Beauclerc.
It makes its training with Guillaume de Tancarville, his first cousin, Chambellan of England. It enters then to the service of Patrice de Salisbury, his maternal uncle. It is pointed out by valiantly defending Aliénor of Aquitaine whose convoy, which it escorted, was attacked by the lord of Lusignan. His/her uncle dies in the court of the confrontation.
He is in charge of the education of the king Henri the Young person († 1183). In 1173 - 1174, it follows it in the revolt of this one against his/her father Henri II of England. During several years, it carries out a band of knights brought together around the young king of tournament in tournament. With died of this last, he escorts his body with Rouen. Isabelle was the grand-daughter of Dermot, king of Leinster, and also the back-small-girl of Robert de Beaumont, Count de Meulan, and of his second wife Elisabeth de Vermandois, of the house capétienne. Isabelle brings all her titles and terres&thinsp to him;: the county of Pembroke, half of the County of Longueville and nearly the quarter to the Ireland.
Regent of England, it beats the May 20th 1217 the French troops with the battles of Lincoln during which it kills the count Thomas of the Pole.
The large knight died in 1219, his Isabelle wife died one year later.

He married Isabelle de Clare (towards 1171 - 1220), girl of Richard de Clare known as '' Strongbow '' († 1176), count de Pembroke and of Buckingham. They had five wire and five girls. Their sons did not have any descent :
