Guillaume II of Merry (1520 † 1592), Viscount of Merry, Lord of Holy Didier, Laudun, Puyvert and Arch, wire of Jean de Joyeuse and of Francoise de Voisins, rams Arch.

He intended himself initially for the Church. He had, of living of his older brother the évêché of Aleth. But the death of this last having made it head of the household, and not having pronounced its wishes, it yet renonça in an ecclesiastical state and embraced the military career. It does not seem that it shone there in a particular way. Named general lieutenant in Languedoc by Charles IX, he fought actively against the Huguenots. He cannot prevent the Massacre of the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre of reproduced in Toulouse. The king Henri III raised it with the dignity of Marshal of France in 1582. He died extremely old in 1592, having seen dying before him four of his sons.
