Guillaume II of Sillé
Guillaume II of Sillé , lord of Sillé.
Biography
Guillaume II of Sillé, wire of Hugue Ier de Sillé, had succeeded to him in 1087, when it gratifia the Mount-Saint-Michel of the assent of his mother. He took share, with Geoffroy II of Mayenne and an elite of the lords manceaux, with the league against Robert II of Bellême in favor of Giroie or Managed (1094). Before 1102, it promised, like lord of stronghold, to defend for the abbot of Saint-Vincent the ground of the Tool bag, and approved in 1112 a transfer of rights on the church of Tennie. It is still seen, with large lords of the court of the Count d' Anjou, to attend a judgment in favor of the Abbaye of Ronceray, towards 1115. Its last known acts are to guarantee the gift of the church of Saint-Georges-the-Gaultier, made with the bishop of Mans by Gautier of Saint-Georges, in 1133, and a mention in Cartulaire of Saint-Florent of Saumur (1138).His wife is not known, but it had a son named of them Hugue.
A. Bertrand de Broussillon says wrongly that it is necessary to see Robert de Sillé instead of Robert de Semilly among the actors of the Bataille of Séez in 1118: one knows no Robert de Sillé on this date.
