Guillaume-François Round slice , known as “the Elder one” to distinguish it from its junior Hilaire-Sailor, born with Mathieu (Apple-brandy) the September 15th 1703 and died in Paris the August 3rd 1770, is a Chimiste and Apothicaire French.
Biography
He is demonstrator of chemistry to the Jardin of the king in Paris. He proves that salts result from the action of an acid on a base or a metal monoxide. He studies the acids, the hydrogen sulfide, sea salt and the processes of the embalming of the former Egyptians. He becomes member of the Academy of Science in 1744 and he is also member of the royal Academy of Stockholm and of the electoral Academy of Erfurt.He is regarded today as one of the founders of the Chimie in France. He made himself famous for the public courses which he gave in his laboratory starting from 1738 and to which very many members of the intellectual elite assisted, among which Diderot, Lavoisier and Parmentier.
