Guigues IV of Albon

Guigues IV of Albon , known as Dolphin died with Buissière in 1142, was count d' Albon of 1133 with 1142.

It was wire of Guigues III of Albon and Mathilde

This count is the first to carry the nickname of Dolphin (Guigo Delphinus), and this since 1110, is twenty three years before reigning. The strongholds of the count d' Albon and the count de Savoie tangled up and no border could be traced. Certain strongholds of the count de Savoie Amédée III like Banks, Voiron and Saint-Laurent-du-Pont were too close to Grenoble not to be considered to be sensitive by Guigues. It is enough that Amédée exerts some pressures on the grounds from the Dauphine bordering in 1140 so that the count d' Albon raises his ost and walks against the count of Savoy in Grésivaudan, even if this last were the brother-in-law of Guigues, because it had married his Mahaud sister. It puts the seat in front of the castle of Montmélian but is surprised by a counter-attack of the count de Savoie. Mortally wounded, it is transported to the castle of Buissière where it dies 3 days later in the arms of his wife.

He had married Clémence or Marguerite de Mâcon († 1164), and had had three children:

  • Guigues V of Albon (1125 † 1162), count d' Albon, who using the nickname of his father will take the title of dolphin of the Viennese
  • Béatrice d' Albon, married to Aymar Ier of Poitiers, count de Valentinois
  • Marquise of Albon († 1196), married about 1150 with Guillaume VII of Auvergne († 1169), count d' Auvergne, and whose descendants will take the title of dolphin of Auvergne .
