Guido Ubaldo Abbatini

Guido Ubaldo Abbatini (Città di Castello, 1600 - Rome, 1656) is an Italian painter Baroque which was active in Rome and Usigni, Frazione of Poggiodomo.

Biography

In the church of San Nicolò, with Scheggino, in the Province of Perugia, the retable of the Madonna in gloria E santi is allotted to him, gone back to 1644. Always in Ombrie, it paints in 1654, a series of paintings to fresco on a commission of the cardinal Fausto Poles, for the church of San Fortunato in Poggioprimocaso, meadows of Cascia.

About 1653 he is entrusted to him, still for the Basilica of San Pietro, the order to decorate with mosaic the vault with Sacramento while in 1654 he decorates, on projects with Pietro de Cortona, the vault of the cupola of the vault of San Sebastiano.

Few of other works, only prestigious under the terms of the commission agent, are allotted to him: two portraits of Urbain VIII, one with the national Gallery of old art of Rome and the other in private collection, the portrait of Innocent X and the cardinal Rinaldo d' Este, preserved in private collections and that of the cardinal Francesco Barberini, in the Chigi palate with Ariccia, meadows of Rome. One preserves some of his projects in the communal Library of Urbania.
