Guido General assemblies of Freemasons
Guido General assemblies of Freemasons , born in 1956, is a Historien and Belgian Anthropologue, specialist and author of many bibliographical references around the topic of the nonWestern cinema and especially that of Africa, the history of the village fairs and the cinema of the first times in Belgium (1894-1918).
Since the Years 1980, Guido Convents publishes on the cinema in Africa and particularly with the Belgian Congo, with the Ruanda-Urundi, the Zaire, in Democratic republic of Congo, with the Rwanda and the Burundi. He works much on the use of the cinema and the image by the Propagande and the colonial culture in the cinema and the audio-visual world of today.
This historian of the cinema is on the initiative, with Guido Huysmans, of l´ Afrika Filmfestival which is held with Leuven and the purpose of which is to introduce not only African films and Afro-Americans (of North America and Latin America) into the Belgian audio-visual culture and to promovoir the African cinema in general but also to safeguard and promote the Congolese audio-visual-cinematographic inheritance, Rwandan and Burundian. He works since 1987 for the international catholic organization of the cinema (OCIC) - which becomes at the end of 2001 SIGNIS - (world catholic Association for the communication). For this organization it is e.a. sub-editor of review SIGNIS MEDIA and related to projects of post-production of films of Latin America. It regularly publishes in the review African Film & Film of the South , published by the International festival of the cinema of Amiens (France).
