Guide of routard
The Guide of routard is a collection of tourist guides French founded in April 1973 by Michel Duval and Philippe Gloaguen, in the wake of the back packers' American guides and of famous the published in 1971.
This collection is presented like an alternative to the more traditional guides (mainly the blue Guide of Hachette), by adopting a resolutely new tone and a spirit, being addressed to a younger and desilvered public, nearer to the local populations, centered on the adventure and the smartness: Hitch-hiking, inns of youth, Camp-site, etc the guides are published today at Hachette.
The cover of the guides is decorated of a Marche ur whose Backpack is a Globe; it is the logo of the collection. The illustration is of Solé.

Anecdotes
-
the trophies of routard, organized since 2003, make it possible young people to leave to carry out humane projects in country in the process of development thanks to the purses and the plane tickets offered by routard. A beautiful operation of marketing, largely relayed by the titles of the group Hatchet (Paris-Match and JDD, in particular).
- an amusing parody of the guide leaves in data base under the title " The guide of the moutard" by draftsman JUL (Echo of savannas/Albin Michel).
- Philippe Gloaguen deposited the word “routard” with INPI in 1975 whereas this word had been invented by Jean-François Bizot. It makes prohibition with whoever to use this term in title of a work (including novel). He thus asked (in vain) that the Larousse editors and the Robert withdraw the term of their dictionaries. He as asked as the Guide of galactic routard (translation of an English science-fiction novel of Douglas Adams entitled The Hitchhiker' S Guide to the Galaxy ) modifies his title. This science-fiction novel was " rebaptisé" : " the Galactique" Guide; after its editor (Denoël) had accepted letters of Injunction on behalf of lawyer of Philippe Gloaguen, owner of the Routard mark.
Critical
-
an deliver-investigation, written by Baudouin Eschapasse, in March 2006 ( Enquête into a Guide of voyages which one must conceal the name ) tells the “slides” of this “tourist institution”. The author is explained: Radio-Canada (Macadam Tribes).
- the same month leaves the memories Philippe Gloaguen ( a life of routard ) who tells the version of the history of the guide by his founder.
