History
Guichen comes from the Breton Br gwic (agglomeration) and Br ken (old).
The parish of Guichen is quoted as of 1101. A tradition affirms that the primitive church was at the village of Saint-Marc. From 1122, the church is given to the Abbaye Saint-Melaine of Rennes. One finds in Guichen two large seigniories: that of Grésillonnais and that of Bagatz.
One formerly saw in the borough the audience, the prison and the stocks and collars of the seigniory of Guichen. The châtellenie of Guichen was created in 1678 for Luc of Bouëxic by the meeting of the seigniories of the Moor, Grésillonnais and Huguetières. The parish of Guichen depended formerly on old évêché on Saint-Malo.
