Guardamar (officially Guardamar of Safor ) is a commune of the Province of Valence in the autonomous Communauté of Valence, Spain, it belongs to the area of Safor.
Geography
Located at the edge of the sea the Mediterranean, the communal territory of Guardamar flat, is formed by sandy marine sediments of the Quaternary one. The coast forms a sand beach end of approximately 500 mêtres length. One reaches the village by the road, since Valence, by taking the N-332 main road, then the CV-670.

History
Known under the name of the Alquerieta , Guardamar is an old village Moor. Its population was maintained until the expulsion of the Moors of Spain, in 1609, date on which it counted nearly a thousand of inhabitants. Left practiquement during the ecennies which followed, it became a possession of the Borgia. Later, it was acquired by the Count de Trénor. Lastly, its last lord was the Marquis de Mirasol, before the abolition of the seigneureries.

Demography
Since the beginning of the XVIIIe century (117 inhabitants in 1715) the population remained about stable, with a light increase at the beginning of the XXe century, to reach 173 inhabitants in 1930.
Economy
The economy of the village is based traditionally on the agriculture and the sale of citrus fruits. Water being used to irrigate the cultures comes from the river Serpis and well; principal cultures being orange trees, feet of tomatos, and vegetables. These last years, tourism took an important place in the saving in Guardamar.
Monuments

the church parroissiale , the building which is an appendix of the parish of Miramar, was built at the XVIIe century and was renovated with XIXe. It is dedicated to Saint Jean-Baptiste, patron saint of the place.
