The protective of the citizen and the citizen is a Ombudsman. It was instituted with Haiti in 1987.

History

Envisaged in the constitution of 1987, it is the decree of October 16th, 1995 which determines the organization, attributions and the operation of the Office.

Institution

The guard of the citizen and the citizen is chosen by consensus between the president of the Republic, the president of the senate and the president of the House of Commons. The mandate of the guard of the citizen is seven years, nonrenewable.
