Guano (of the Quechua wanu ) is the name given to the Excrément S of the marine Oiseaux and the bats. It can be used as a very effective Engrais, under the terms of its great concentration in nitrated compounds. The grounds lacking organic matters can then be made much more productive.
Guano consists of Ammoniac as well as ureic acids, of Phosphore, oxalic acid and carbonic, and some salts and impurities. The concentration in Nitrate S made guano an important strategic resource. One of qualities of this manure comes from the subtle mixture between the Acidité of the excrements and between the ground Calcaire (basic). This manure is accepted in the schedule of conditions of the Organic farming.
Guano is collected on various islands of Pacifique, for example the Chinchilla islands, or in other oceans, as on the island Juan of the islands Nova. These islands having been inhabited by the marine birds during centuries, guano can be extracted on several meters thickness.
Guano was collected by private companies or public during centuries on the coasts of the Peru, on the islands and the coasts rock which were not exploited before. The Cormoran S Guanay are the largest producers of guano, and their excrements tend to be richer in substances nitrogenized than those of the other species of marine birds, other particularly producing species on the coasts of Peru being for example the Pélican S Peruvians.
Between 1840 and 1879, the guano of the Peru generated enormous richnesses because the country profited for this period from the world Monopole from this fertilizer. Business men built immense fortunes by exploiting these richnesses, it was the case of French Auguste Dreyfus who thanks to guano was with the head of the one of greatest fortunes of the world.
