Guanajuato
Guanajuato is a city of Mexico, capital of the State of very the name. It has a population of 153.364 inhabitants (agglomeration - 2005, often debatable figures), and is located at approximately 300 kilometers in North East of Mexico City, that is to say with approximately 4:30 with 5:00 of the capital in the bus. It is before all an old mining city, gold and the money having made its richness during Spanish colonization and having equipped it with splendid monuments (churches, theaters).
It is famous today on the one hand for its academic excellence (its university and its thousands of students, his research center in Mathématiques, the CIMAT) and for its tourist attraction. Its mummies, its historical center classified with the world heritage of humanity by UNESCO and the many monuments which adorn it in makes a place to see in colonial Mexico.
