Guétali
A guétali is a small perennial construction resembling a typical Kiosque of the creole Architecture of the Réunion and which one formerly raised with the angle of the courses Mur ées to observe people passing in the street in against-low without being noticed them.
Covered by a Roof, often decorated Lambrequin S, the guétali generally protected its occupants from the Regard of the passers by openwork panels out of wooden of decorative reasons. It is known that it was especially used by the young girls of good family.
Its origin is to be sought in the fashion of the gloriettes in balneal architecture and Villégiature of the 19th century. Its name comes from “ guèt has Li ”, which means “ épie it ” in Créole réunionnais.
