Guéra

The Guéra is one of the 18 areas of the Chad (Decrees N° 415/PR/MAT/02 and 419/PR/MAT/02) whose chief town is Mongo. It corresponds to the old prefecture of Guéra.

Demography

The population of the area was of 306.653 inhabitants in 1993 (RGPH), including 263.843 sedentaries (rural, 219.884; urban, 43.959), and 42.810 nomads.

The principal ethnico-linguistics groups are the Arab Hadjeray (66,18%) and (21,11%).
