Guègues
The Guègues constitute one of the two ethnic independent groups Albanian, the other being the Tosques. They are distributed in a geographical surface consisted the north of the Albania (in the north of the river Shkumbin), like with the Kosovo, in Serbia of the south, with the Eastern Montenegro and in Western Macedonia.
This territory, mainly mountainous and wedged constituted a barrier with the external influences, with the result that the habits and the traditions remained almost unchanged there: Guègues preserved a clannish and patrilineal structure of the company, and are shown generally more preserving than Tosques.
From a religious point of view, Guègues were Catholique S before the arrival of the Othoman at the 14th century, and our days the catholic minority (estimated at 16% of the total population) is mainly at North.
The Albanian elite was especially guègue until 1945, and was détrônée by the advent of the Communists under Enver Hoxha, originating in the South.
Their language is the Guègue.
