Gstaad
Gstaad (to pronounce) is a village located at 1 050 meters of altitude on the commune of Saanen in the Canton of Bern. It is located at the borders of the old Gruyere county, in the district of Gessenay.
9  there was counted; 200 inhabitants at December 31st, 2005.
Tourism
This village is known to be a crested ski station of Western Switzerland and has one of greatest skiables fields in Europe. This one extends on all the area and includes/understands the tracks of Saanen, Gstaad (Eggli, Wispile, Wasserngrat), Schönried, Saanenmöser, Zweisimmen, St Stephan, Rougemont and Castle-with Œx, like those of Glacier 3000.Since 1998, the center of the village is exclusively pedestrian.

Various facts
- In its novel One Sunday with the mountain , the writer Daniel de Roulet acknowledges that it set fire to the country cottage of Axel Springer in Gstaad, the January 5th 1975.
- In escape to escape a ten years of prison sorrow for Crime against humanity, the French former minister Maurice Papon was stopped in a hotel of Gstaad the October 21st 1999.
- Johnny Hallyday, which has a residence with Gstaad, there established its domicile for tax purposes at the end of 2006 and was committed spending six months of the year there at least.
