Gruffy

Gruffy is a commune of the department of the Haute-Savoie, in the canton of Alby-on-Chéran. It belongs to the Pays of the Albanian and the Canton of Alby-on-Chéran.

Geography

Located at the foot of the mountain of the Semnoz, this common knew a notable increase in its population since a score of years, which had with the rise of the ground around Annecy. Today, the majority of the population works in Annecy. The economy of the commune thus passed from a rural economy (breeding) to a zone of residence. There remain today only five farms against a score in 1980.

Gruffy now forms part of the Regional natural park of the Solid mass of the Wallows.

History

One discovered remainders of human presence dating from the Neolithic to the locality Mollard. Excavations took place in tumulus. Objects discovered are exposed to the museum of Annecy.
