Group phényl
In Chemistry, one calls group phényl (or ring phényl ) the functional Groupe having the following formula:
where the Atome S of carbon form a structure of ring cyclic, called Aryle. It is about a particularly stable structure, also forming part of the aromatic compounds. Moreover, this compound Hydrophobe finds in many made up organics. One can see the phényl group like a derivative of the group Benzène (sometimes noted pH in the chemical literature). One of the compounds based on the simplest phényl is the Phénol C6H5OH. The Mésomérie of phenol in fact an Acid more extremely than the alcohols (pKa = 10 vs. 16-18).
The phényl group also differs from the functional group Benzyl because this last has in more a additional CH2. One finds also phényl groups in the Polymères such as the Polystyrène.
