Group Savings bank
The Groupe Savings bank is a banking group French made up around the Savings banks (the first created in 1818 with Paris). The Savings banks are sometimes indicated under name the Squirrel , according to the animal which is used as logo with the group. Today, the Savings bank Group is a banking group of international scale, multimétier (Banque, Assurance, Immobilier…) and multi-sign.
History
Philanthropic saving with the guarantee of state
In France, the first opening of a Savings bank took place with Paris in 1818. That of the Rhone delta was in 1821 the fifth with being créée.The Savings bank in France is an private initiative of two Philanthrope S intended to encourage the popular saving and education with the economy. Declared public utility in 1835, its success increases with the transfer of the management of the funds of saving regulated towards an organization of State, the Deposit and consignment office.

Entities of the group
The Savings bank Group gathers several entities:- the network of the regional cases of the statute, Savings banks mutualist. The Savings banks are distributed of regional structures on the Territoire French. Each Savings bank is directed in a collegial way by a directory.

the National federation of the Savings banks (FNCE): true authority of representation of the Savings banks, it is guarantor of the interests of the members, the identity and the values mutualists of the Savings banks,
- the Financière OCÉOR in DOM-TOM and the Pays of overseas.
- the Company 1818 (Private banking).
- the Palatine Bank (in the past Sanpaolo Bank) (SME and private management),
- the Building and loan association of France (CF),
- EUROSIC (land Company with dimensions of the Savings bank Group),
- Natixis (Bank of financing and investment),
- Nexity (1st integrated actor of the trades of the real estate),
- the Savings bank Group holds a participation of 15,76% in the CNP (national ex-Case of precaution), of which it distributes the products from insurance life, and to which it yielded, in January 2007, its subsidiary company of insurance life Ecureuil Life.

The Livret has
The Savings banks divide with La Poste (become the Postal bank) and Crédit Mutuel (the Blue Booklet), the monopoly of the distribution of the Livret has . Monopoly which is disputed to them by the other French banks concurrentes. The Booklet has is a Savings account whose Rémunération (rate of annual Intérêt fixed at 2,75% at August 1st, 2006 changed for 3% at August 1st, 2007) is regulated by the French government and is exonerated from taxes. The Caisse of the Deposits centralizes the resources coming from the Booklet has to finance the social Housing. For a long time the Booklet has was the main resource of the Savings banks, now exceeded by the Insurance life and the other products bancaires. The remuneration of the Booklet has is calculated according to the principle known as of the fortnight:- the versed sums are remunerated starting from the beginning of the following fortnight (the versed funds of 1st to the 15 will be remunerated from the 16 of the month, etc…)
- the withdrawn sums are not remunerated any more starting from the beginning of the fortnight in progress (the withdrawn funds of the 16 to the 30, will have been remunerated only until the 15 of the month).
Recent events
The Savings bank Group:-
was the subject of a reform of its statutes in 1999 (law of reform of June 25th, 1999) which made it possible to open the capital of the Savings banks to the members (by subscription of partnership shares) and to create the Caisse Nationale of the Savings banks, central body and holding of the Group.
- decided the April 13rd 2005 to remunerate the accounts - currents as of the first Euro, becoming the first large French banking sign to propose this type of product.
- set up end 2005 a partnership with MACIF and MAIF in the field of the Bancassurance and the services to the person
- finalizes in 2006, a bringing together with the Group Banques Populaires in the field of the bank of financing and investment which thus relates to mainly subsidiary companies IXIS of the Savings bank and Natexis Banques Populaires.
- officializes in November 2006 quotation out of Stock Exchange of Natixis and the opening of the capital to the investors and the private individuals.
- finalizes, in July 2007, the constitution of its real pole with dimensions around the Nexity leader of which it holds approximately 40% of the capital.
