The troop is resulting from the scission of the troop Prémices of the Federation of the working theater of France, of which some actors reproached the director Roger Legris, the loss of the political ideal. Joined by Jacques Prévert, which became the principal author, they played, at the time of the political meetings, in the streets and the factories in strike, between 1933 to 1936, of short parts or the choruses, in order to diffuse the Marxist ideas near the people.

Followers of the Agitprop, for a proletarian theater near to Erwin Piscator, Prévert wrote then with load against the established order, caricaturing the politicians and the great industrialists ( the Battle of Fontenoy , 1932), or ridiculing the middle-class ( the Pipe Family of Stove , 1933), developing the workmen ( Vive the Press , 1932, or the Tableau of the wonders , played in the Grands Parisian stores burdens some in 1935). Vis-a-vis the middle-class theater, he wants to support the emergence of a theater of the people. The actors also played Paul Éluard and Aragon.

Near to the French Communist party, especially starting from the riots of February 1934, and in spite of the will of Prévert not to be recovered, the group gained in 1933 the first price of the Olympiad of the working theater of Moscow, with the representation of the Battle of Fontenoy , taking again truths speech of Paul Déroulède, Joseph Joffre, Edouard Herriot and Raymond Poincaré.

The company was dissolved, like there Fédération of the working Theater of France, after the victory of the Popular front, on bottom of dissension of the members as for the need for engaging in the international Brigades.
