Group ONA

The Groupe ONA (abbreviation of African northern Omnium ) is the first industry group and private financier Morocco Ain. The group is made up sour form of holding which invests in several companies belonging to various spheres of activity.

The African northern Omnium (ONA) was founded in 1924 by the French Jean Épinat, resting on the Thami El Glaoui. With the independence of the Morocco in 1956, the Moroccan royal family adapts this consortium, making Moroccan sovereigns one of largest world fortunes.

History

  • 1919 : Creation of the General Company of Transport and Tourism (CGTT)
  • 1928: CGTT becomes exclusive agent of General Motors in Morocco until in 1945
  • 1934: The CGTT becomes African Northern Omnium
  • 1982: The Group takes participations in varied sectors, in particular Lait & Dérivés, Sucre, Banques, Chimie, Textile
  • 1986: Acquisition of a holding in Lesieur Africa and acquisition of almost 40% of the Commercial Bank of Morocco
  • 1995: Going public of Group ONA
  • 1999: ONA takes the control of SNI
  • 2001: Partnership agreement with Auchan
  • 2005: Acquisition of Morocco Connect, second FAI Morocco Ain
  • 2007: Acquisition of the shares held by Auchan
