Group M6

The group M6 is a Groupe of audio-visual companies French which was built around the hertzian commercial television channel M6 (Company Metropolis Television) which was inaugurated the Sunday the 1st er March 1987 with 11:15.

The principal shareholder of the M6 group is RTL Group, subsidiary company audio-visual of the group of German media Bertelsmann. The group Suez, majority shareholder since creation was disengaged in 2005 and has nothing any more but 5% of the capital.

Chains belonging completely to the M6 Group: Chaînes in which the M6 Group is partner:

M6 and W9 was retained by the SCUMS to belong to the offer of French Digital terrestrial television free in France. TF6 and Paris Première was retained for the paying offer.

Distribution

  • TPS : numerical bouquet of diffusion by satellite with subscription held jointly with the Group TF1 (66% for the Group TF1, 34% for the M6 Group). The M6 Group is one of the main actors with TF1 since the departure of France Televisions of the capital of TPS. At the end of 2005, an agreement is found with the Groupe Canal+, at the end which the two bouquets satellite TPS and CanalSat will amalgamate: more exactly a new unit baptized " Channel + France" will emerge, held to 65% by the Canal+ Group, 20% by Lagardere Active, to 9% by Group TF1 and 5,1% by the M6 Group.
  • TPS-L: network of diffusion per subscription of offer TPS on ADSL.
