Group Louis Dreyfus

The Groupe Louis Dreyfus is a multinational group present in 53 countries rested by the family Louis Dreyfus at the end of the 19th century. It belongs to the club of the “Big 4” of the trade with Cargill, Glencore and Bunge. For historical reasons, the group is not quoted on the stock exchange and remains entirely held by the heirs to the founders. Finally it positions recently on the renewable energies with the opening of the largest factory of Bioéthanol in the world in the state of the Indiana.

It is Louis Dreyfus, father of Léopold Louis-Dreyfus, which gave its first name and its name to the group. Its posterity is influential in the business world, of the media, the civil society, arts and the policy. It was initially associated with his younger brother Joseph (Louis) Dreyfus, ship-owner, trader, banker of Victor-Emmanuel II, king d' Italie.

The Dreyfus family took part in the first round table of the daily newspaper Humanity in 1904. The Dreyfus family become Louis-Dreyfus by decree as a Council of State.

One finds among the young generation resulting from the patriarch Louis Dreyfus, the American actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, the businessman Robert Louis-Dreyfus (Léopold Dreyfus connects), the journalist Guillaume Klossa (Joseph Dreyfus connects).
