Group Guy Mocquet

The Groupe Guy Mocquet was a group of resistance during the Second world war.

History

This group, directed by Marcel Simon was made up young men of Larnod and its surroundings, in suburbs of Besancon. It was affiliated with ftp. Constituted as of June 1940, it taken the name of “Guy Mocquet”, in February 1943, the honor of the young high-school pupil shot by the German occupant France October 22nd, 1941 with the Camp of Chateaubriant.

This group was at the origin of several knacks against the occupant. The majority as of its members were shot with the Citadelle of Besancon France September 26th, 1943, that is to say 16 people, by group of four, 7:36 to 8:24.

Memorial

In forest of Aveney, on a rock piton overhanging the valley of the Doubs, with the locality “the Rock of Valmy”, a stele was built, inaugurated on May 18th, 1947 by the survivors of the group in memory of their comrades. With the foot of the “Rock of Valmy” in the forest of Larnod, a clearing was arranged. Every year, last Sunday of September, is celebrated the birthday of the shooting of the citadel. The celebration proceeds in three times:

an religious office in the clearing;
a civil ceremony with the foot of the stele;
a civil ceremony with the war memorial of Larnod.

One will note the presence with these ceremonies of many flags of associations of war veterans.
