It is in the 16th legislature, and as the majority of the legislatures since 1949, the group most of the Bundestag. It is chaired since 2005 by Volker Kauder.

Organization

The meeting of members of different parties within this single group is allowed by article 10 of the Règlement of the German Bundestag, insofar as the parties of the Union trouvnt in any Land in competition for reasons of political orientation (Article 10 al. 1 GOBT). This provision is associated with the CDU/CSU so much so that it is called the Lex Union .

The deputies members of the group also form provincial groupings ( of Landesgruppen ). Most important is the provincial grouping of the CSU ( of CSU-Landesgruppe ), which is regarded as an autonomous unit within the group and has an important room for maneuver since the crisis caused by the threats of secession of the CSU in the years 1970.
