Groton is a city located in the Comté of New London, in the State of the Connecticut (the United States). According to the census of 2000, Groton had a total population of 39  907 inhabitants.

Economy

Groton is the city of the American submarines. Its principal employers are:

• Naval Submarine Bases New London : the base of Sous-marin S of U.S. Navy of New London employs 21  000 civilians and soldiers with Groton.
• Electric Boat Corporation : a subsidiary company of the General Dynamics Corporation, is the principal manufacturer of American nuclear submarines (7  500 employment).
• Pfizer : the pharmaceutical firm Pfizer has in Groton an production unit and its principal research center and development, open in 1959 (4  500 employment).
