The Griqualand West Griquas (Afrikaans: Grikwas ) is a South-African team of Rugby to XV which takes part each year in the Currie Cup. For reasons of sponsoring, it is also called Wildeklawer Griquas , of the name of a market-gardening company, specialized in the production of onions and potatoes. She plays with a blue shirt ringed duck of white and evolves/moves to the ABSA Park of Kimberley in the free State. Griqualand West is an area belonging historically to the province of the Cape-of-North. The Griqua S are mongrel people originating in this area.
Its players are likely to be selected to evolve/move with the Central Cheetahs, which evolve/move in the Super 14.
History
Founded in 1886, the club is one of oldest country, but its distance of the great centers and its weak population always prevented it from exerting a real domination on the Currie Cup, in spite of three victories. It is with him that South Africa owes Currie Cup. In round in country in 1891, Lions British decided to offer cut, “Cut Currie” (of the name of Donald Currie, the ship-owner which had made them gift of it), with the best team of province than they would face and they were Griquas. This cut rewards from now on the best team for province of the season.
