Grini

Grini was a Concentration camp Nazi located at the periphery of Oslo, in Norway, on the territory of the Municipality of Baerum.

Built originally to be a prison for woman, in 1939, it is transformed into concentration camp as of on May 2nd, 1941. It accommodates Norwegian political prisoners initially.

Approximately: 20000 prisoners passed by Grini until 1945, and the maximum population of the camp was of 5000 people. The full number of death is unknown, but it is proven that as well the police force as the Gestapo exerted torture there and that there were at least eight executions. They were held in the Forteresse of Akershus.

After the war, the camp is famous Ilebu and is used to intern the Norwegian traitors. It is closed in 1950, but the prison opens again in 1952 for the criminals having longsufferings.
