Grimaldo
Admiral and statesman génois at the time of the first Crusades, Grimaldo is the stem of the sovereign house of Grimaldi. He would have been the son of Otto Canella, but did not bear any patronymic name however.
He was consul of the Commune of Genoa in 1162, 1170 and 1184, and represented Genoa in particular near the emperor Frederic Barberousse and of the emperor of Constantinople.
