Grimaldi de Puget

The branch comtale of Puget (in Italian, Poggetto) of the Maison of Grimaldi is resulting from the branch of Antibes, of which the source is Antoine Grimaldi, admiral of the fleet génoise against the Vénitiens and Catalans in 1353.

At the 16th century, it is established with the Piedmont, in Busca, where it becomes owner many grounds. This branch, faithful to the House of Savoy, will give a long line of military officers.

Josué Grimaldi will be ordering fortress of Pignerol, considered as the door of Italy.

In 1704, one of its sons, Nicolas Grimaldi, will be pledged of Puget-Théniers in the Comté of Nice.
