Synopsis

Life and vexations of a family of average Americans, Griffin. Peter is the idiotic father, Lois his wife reasonable, Chris the naive son, Megan the girl neurotic and Stewie the small diabolic last the purpose of which is principal to kill its “travelling matrix”. They have also a dog, Brian, which speak, walk and behaves like human (and whose character, voice and values liberal are those of the creator of the series).

In the original version of Griffin, one notes that the character of Peter Griffin is in fact a catholic American of Irish origin. Peter will discover during the series that it has Afro-Américains ancestors, Irishman, Écossais, Spaniards and Germans what will push the character to be called in question. His Lois wife is housewife and part-time piano teacher, it grew in a middle-class family. The father of Laws has a true problem with Peter his son-in-law and tries with many recoveries to put sticks in the wheels to him. Their Brian dog is undoubtedly the most intelligent family member but it is also an alcoholic. Stewie has one year and half and he speaks already, its dream is to kill his/her mother and to dominate the world.

French voices

Characters

  • Peter Löwenbräu Griffin is the father, man completely stupid, irresponsible and idiotic. He cumulates the rocambolesques tares and situations. Its direction of humor is extremely approximate, and its family it even has evil to laugh at her jokes (In particular Laws and Brian). He quotes with abundance of the references of the pop culture, for example when the town of Quahog must choose a topic for a procession of tanks, he does not find anything of to better propose that the scene in Madam is Servie or Tony surprises Angela under the shower . It sometimes happens to him however to be understanding and funny. Its great tare in the series is its addiction with beer and its great stupidity. He is also fan of KIS

  • Lois Griffin born Pewterschmidt is the mother, very tempting and very devoted with the education of his/her children. As all the family it is disturbed a little, in spite of the fact that it comes from a very rich family which hates Peter. Laws is quite as luke-warm as her husband (But in a more subtle way). It is also prone to furious unverifiable accesses of anger. In the past it also slept with one of the members of group KIS. It has that of private individual who his French voice is also that which is regularly given to the American actress Whoopi Goldberg.

  • Megan “Meg” Griffin is the oldest daughter of the family, 17 years old. She is completely lowered and ridiculed by its family and her entourage, which reject it, insult it or are unaware of it without shame. It seems also slightly neurotic. In an episode it develops an obsessional love for Brian and goes until removing it to sequester it. Everyone says that it is large and ugly, to him which it ended up believing. She is quite as violent as her mother: In an episode, turned into ridiculous by Peter and his buddies whereas it leads, it stops and strikes the driver of the car which pressed it.

  • Christopher Cross “Chris” Griffin is the son of Peter and Lois, 14 years old. He is like his father: large and stupid. A monkey malefic lives in its wall cupboard and an old man has sights on him. He is very naive, and is regularly turned in she-ass by the others. He seems enough gifted to sing

  • Stewart Gilligan “Stewie” Griffin is the old baby of the family of 1 year. Stewie is a turbulent, exceptionally gifted and dominating child. He wants with very taken to kill his mother. He calls never or very seldom his family by their names: Peter is “the large heap”, Lois is “the Bastille Ovarienne”, Chris is “Tripe” and Brian is “the quadruped”, Meg being never apostrophized by anyone. It is very often insinuated that it is homosexual. In spite of its young age, it is expressed like (even better) than an adult. The realizers of the series let plane the doubt as for knowing if Stewie is indeed made include/understand by the family and not only by Brian.

  • Brian Griffin , the dog, is the “normal” member more of the family (although it is him also equipped with the word). It has qualities enormously and is very attaching as a character. It handles cold humor to perfection. It is a writer of missed theater and an actor more or less good. It falls regularly in love more or less advisable women. Among its addictions, he is smoker, alcoholic and related to the thing. He is secretly in love with Laws.

  • Glenn Quagmire , a more or less lucky sexual pervert. He is in love with Laws and preserves a headstock of it made clippings of nails, hair and of old clothing in a wall cupboard. Solitary eternal, it seldom sometimes happens to him to have serious stories. He follows the occupation of pilot in Airline.

  • Cleveland Brown , a relatively flexible apathetic Afro-American. He directs the chamber of commerce of Quahog. He is married with Loretta Brown until the episode the love has twenty teeth . They have a son, Cleveland Junior which suffers from Hyperactivité.

  • Joe Swanson , a paralyzed police officer of the two legs. In spite of its handicap, he always exerts. His wife Bonnie Swanson is perpetually pregnant and still did not acouché, and their son Kevin is a not very expressive and luke-warm teenager.

  • Mort Goldman is the pharmacist of Quahog. It is of Jewish confession with all the stereotypes which go with. His wife Muriel Goldman resembles to him to mistake there. Their son Neil Goldman (Named according to one of the authors of the series) is in love with Meg. The niece of the Goldman couple is Jennifer Love Hewitt

  • Herbert is an inhabitant of the district, very old and going with a deambulator It has a dog Jessie which resembles to him much (Same practices, same difficulties of being driven etc). One can define Herbert by saying that he is paedophile, éphèbophile, in love with Chris with a probable desire to change sex or to disguise themselves. Meg and Brian seem to be the only ones to have realized that it was a disgusting old man, whereas Lois and Peter see only one honourable old man there. He is regarded as one of the funniest characters of the show, from his appearances always of good quality. In That bone, that bone , he parodies with wonder a scene of the Lord of the Rings by saving Chris of an alive tree, protecting it with the manner of Gandalf against Balrog.

  • Tom Tucker and Diane Simmons , presenters of the infos on Chanel 5. Tom has a son, Jake, whose face is reversed. The two journalists are helped by the special correspondent Trisha Takanawa , a parody of Connie Chung. Tom and Diane hate themselves copiously and do not hesitate to insult itself on line.

  • Adam West , Mayor of Quahog, inspired and whose voice is made by truth Adam West. It is concerned little with its city and very eccentric. It seems attached to Meg per moments. It is paranoiac and had a homosexual relation with Luke Perry.

  • Horace is the barman of the Oyster faggot, bar or trail Peter and his friends like Brian.

  • the malicious monkey lives in the wall cupboard of Chris. Nobody sees it except Chris, except Peter in an episode, but it confuses it with Meg.

  • Ernie, the giant chicken with which Peter fights in Té gaga Tsouin Tsoui , Rock around the Cloche , No Chris Left Behind and which Peter meets in Meet the Quagmires! . Their engagements are violent ones and filled with action. The initial cause is that Ernie gave a nonvalid reduction voucher to Peter.

  • Rupert , the nounours of Stewie, its preferred toy and its confidant. In an episode, it is revealed that Stewie sees it like a beautiful human man with head of nounours.

  • Jillian , a stupid boyfriend of super Brian hot and super (Stewie and Lois have fun some well), Brian remains with it only for the sex. It seems same intellectual level as Peter.

  • One can also note the employers and colleagues of Peter, like Jonathan Weed , in Happy-Go-Lucky Toy Factory, which dies during a dinner, Pasqual and Santos , Portuguese fishing colleagues, Angela , the authoritative owner which has a tooth against Peter with the brewery of Pawtucket, and Opie , the delayed colleague of Peter, carried to naked by Angela.

Comments

Over the first two seasons, the majority of the titles do not have any relationship with the scenario, unlike the season: death Rail , Haro on the can , Bouledrogue , etc

The humor of the series also evolves/moves between what one can call the first cycle (Season 1,2,3) and the second cycle (Season 4,5 and what was announced of the 6). Whereas at the beginning of the gags flashbacks without relationship with the scenario are connected, the episodes of the second cycles are sought there, as for example the old men fell on the head with the use of supporting characters and a logical and complete scenario. The case of the series, déprogrammée then reprogrammed thanks to sales DVD and with the audiences of the repeat broadcasts, is almost single in its kind (the second case is Futurama which was also started again thanks to sale DVD).

Criticisms against the series

Inspired by the Simpson , this series became more or less worship according to its spectators, who see there either new and laughing headlight of politically incorrect of the animation of in addition to Atlantique, or simple and lamentable a Plagiat of the Simpson .

Certain episodes of the Simpson (such as for example, Vendetta , the 8th episode of the 17th season) ironically denounce the plagiarism made by the authors of the series Griffin . It is not a question of the only series to be ironical about the scenaristic quality of Griffin, and to underline the plagiarism of which it is estimated guilty. Thus, the creators of South Park reproach Griffin for being a poor, badly animated, punctuated series of gags impromptus (preferably without relationship with the scenario), reproaching him scenarios without originality and a lack of standpoint the price of a stupid and puerile humor. In an episode in two parts of their tenth season ( Cartoon Wars ), the creators parody the Griffin with a strong vehemence, where they “reveal” that the intrigues of the episodes are created by Lamantin S in an aquarium which collect marked balls of words. The creators of South Park joined besides Matt Groening for this double episode, where Bart Simpson binds first of all friendship with Eric Cartman (to make prohibit Griffin) then with Kyle Broflovski, when it realizes that the Freedom of expression is more important than of simple vehemences.

Brian Ween reproaches Stewie for presenting resemblances a little too much striking to the character of Jimmy Corrigan .
