Grgur Branković
Grgur Branković , into Serb Cyrillic ГргурБранковић , (- 13. March 1408.). Serb prince of the Kosovo, He is the oldest son of Vuk Branković and the girl of the prince Lazar Mara .
He has participle with the Bataille of kosovo polje to with dimensions of his father.
Grgur his/her mother and her brother Đurađ Branković settled close to Vučitrn and Trepče with the Kosovo. After years of negotiation they could recover the money left by their Vuk father with Dubrovnik and with its moneys recovered most of their ground.
But return on the political scene costs them their freedom, they are obliged to lend allegiance to the sultan Bayezid Ier. They will take part in the sides of the Othomans to the Bataille of Ankara. Grgur was taken as an hostage by Tamerlan his brother, of paying a strong ransom so that it finds freedom.
One does not know if it took part in the second battle of Kosovo at the sides of the Othomans, at the sides of the others Branković against the Lazarević.
In 1406, at the time of a visit to the new sultan Mehmed Ier. Grgur is retained like hostage with close to the sultan. Probably the sultan did not have any more confidence in the branković family. His/her Đurađ brother is him set out again in Serbia.
After its return in Serbia, some month later, it decides to abdicate with the profit of his brother. It will be withdrawn as monk in the Serb monastery of Hilandar on the Athos Mount under the name of Moine Geresim. He dies on March 13rd, 1408.
