The Greyhound greyhound , or Greyhound or English greyhound , is a Chien with the silhouette gracile and the powerful musculature. It is a dog of race and company. It measures between 68 and 76 cm with the garrot and weighs from 27 to 35 kg.

Greyhound has a strength and an endurance remarkable, it is called “formula 1 of the canine world”, because it can run to more than 70 km/h.

It is of good intelligent nature and , it has a nature soft, calm, and is very affecteux with its Masters and rather indifferent towards the foreigners.

History

It is a very old, known dog since the Antiquité. Its principal quality is its speed with the race. Thus, the Greek organized already competitions of race. It probably descends from the Arab Lévrier imported in Europe by the navigators phenicians, and, as of antiquity, it was used with the Chasse with the stag, the Daim and the Sanglier.

Greyhound was very popular in Europe of the Moyen-âge, in particular near the souverains  ; it was reproduced on the weapons of the king de France Charles V of France and Henri VIII of England.

Towards 1750, the English codified the rules of coursing.

In 1927, began the races on artificial hare, very spectacular and still appraisals nowadays.
