Grenadelle

The grenadelle ( Passiflora ligularis ), also called " Grenadillo sucrée" or " grenadillo douce" , of Climbing plant is a species pertaining to the kind of the Passiflore S. The epithet ligularis comes from its Corolle in Ligule.

Habitat

The grenadelle one is originating in the mountains of the the Andes between the Bolivia and the Venezuela. One finds some in Argentine and with the Mexico but also in the tropical mountains of Africa and Australia (of 1700 to 2600 m).

Description

Culture

The grenadelle one appreciates wet climates going from 15° to 18° C with 600 to 1000 mm of annual rain. In outside, it can bear fruit only in hot zone (USDA 9b) and does not survive negative temperatures.

The grenadelle one multiplies well by Semis and, if it is cultivated under good conditions, will start to produce fruits towards the 2 years age.
