Gremda is a city located at 10 kilometers in the North-West of Sfax on the road of Kairouan.

Attached to the Governorship of Sfax, it constitutes a municipality of 36.405 inhabitants (2006) while the city itself shelters a population of 15.912 inhabitants.

She is known to shelter largest Marché of Olive S of the country ( Souk Zitoun ) very active in December when the Récolte beats full sound. The area of Sfax is the first olive-growing area of the country because more of the third of the 1000 oil mills of the country are established there.

The city is twinned with the French city of Villefontaine with which a partnership in 1994 concluded. At the cultural level, it has a national center of dramatic arts and scenic and organizes each year a Festival.
