Gregoire V
Gregoire V (Bruno von Kärnten or Brunon de Carinthie), originating in Saxony, born in 973, pope of the May 3rd 996 with the February 18th 999. It is the Germanic emperor Otton III which made it indicate thus making it possible to the first pope of German origin to reach the Holy See. After a pontificate of 2 years and 9 months and half, it was buried in the old Saint-Pierre basilica.
It has a homonym: saint Gregoire V of Constantinople, martyr.
