Greenly island
The Île Greenly is a Québécois small island uninhabited located in water of the Golfe of the St. Lawrence, with: 2.5 km of White-Fine sand and very close to the border of the Labrador. This rock, of a surface of less 1 km ² and covered with a thin herbaceous vegetation, is included in the territory of the municipality of White-Fine sand.
The island is a public ground and an important site of nesting for ten species of birds, of which the Macareux monk, the Petit penguin and the marine Goéland. It is protected as refuge of migratory birds since September 7th, 1925.
The Greenly Island passed in the History, on April 13rd, 1928, when the German Aviateur S Ehrenfried Günther von Hünefeld, Hermann Köhl and James C. Fitzmaurice lands on this island after having crossed the Atlantique of is in west on board a Junkers W 33, the Bremen . They were helped by the pioneer of the aviation of Québécois bush, Romeo Vachon.
