Green band
The Green Bande (青幫) was an active criminal secret society with Shanghai at the beginning of the 20th century. Joining together in its center of many business men, it controlled the near total of the criminal activity of a city which then represented the world capital of the trade of opium. The principal activities of the Verte band were the traffic of Opium, the play and the Prostitution. Its services moreover were regularly required to disperse union meetings and strikes.
The April 12th 1927, the Verte band is responsible for the massacre of approximately 5 000 strikers and sympathizers Communist S, ordered by the leader of the Guomindang Tchang Kaï-chek. This last rewarded the chief for the gang, Of Yuesheng, by naming it Général.
While sharing with Guomindang the profits drawn from the traffic of opium, the Verte band brought an important financial support with Tchang Kaï-chek. This one had tied many bonds with the criminal leaders during his stay with Shanghai of 1915 with 1923.
