Green Touraco

The green Touraco ( guinea turaco for the english-speaking, and Turaco de Guinea or Turaco capucha-verde of Guinea for the Spanish-speaking ones) is a bird of under musophagidés (or Musophagidae ).
Son scientific name is Tauraco persa (Synonymous: Tauraco corythaix persa ). it can be confused with other species of Touraco which resemble to him.

Like all the members of this family, he saw in sub-Saharan Africa.

Description

It is a 43 cm long bird (tail included) and weighing of 225 with 295gr.
Nourriture: various fruits, sheets, buds and flowers
Il lives in the African tropical primary forests on which it is dependant (especially in the west of the continent).

Its plumage makes it rather easily recognizable, although he escapes the attention easily, on the summit of the trees; it is almost entirely green clearly drawing on the gray, including its crested, except a little red and white around and close to the eye.

The female lays two eggs per annum, in a nest built in the large trees.

Its cry is a cawr-cawr (delivery with English).

Threaten

He is threatened by the retreat of the primary Forêt tropical on which it depends.
C' is a species which was also sought by the amateurs of birds, and its trade is another reason of its disappearance. Its trade is regulated by the QUOTE since 1975, under the aegis of UNO. Quote announced into 2007 of false Guinean licenses used at least in 2006 and 2007, and suggests a better control of the authenticity of the licenses of export of Guinea, in particular of live birds. In the same way the imports, exports and re-exportations with Nigeria were suspended starting from July 19th, 2005. Suspension of trade with Djibouti, Guinea Bissau, Liberia and Rwanda.
