Great Western Erg

The Great Erg Western , in the the Sahara Algeria N, is an immense zone of large Dune S in the form of crescent of 80.000 km ² limited to the south and south-east by immense the high plateau of the Tademaït, to the west by the Erg er-Raoui and to the North-West by the imposing mountainous chain of the Saharian Atlas. In the north of this immense dune zone is splendid the Oasis of Taghlit.

This apparently insuperable barrier was always furrowed by the caravans which make the connection between the Oasis disseminated in the waves of sand. The principal cities are Timimoun and Adrar (Algeria).
