Great Hunting for the shark ( Gonzo Papers, vol. 1: The Great Shark Hunt : Strange Tales from has Strange Time ) is the first volume of the '' new will gonzo '' ( The Gonzo Papers ), a series of four compilations of texts by Hunter S. Thompson.

The collection, published in 1979, is composed of articles coming from various publications such as the National To observe , The NewYork Times , Rolling Stone , Scanlan' S Monthly , The Reporter , Playboy and others, publications for which Thompson worked as a correspondent or Pigiste. The book also contains extracts of Las Vegas parano ( Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas ) and of Fear and Loathing: One the Campaign Trail “72 . These articles cover one period which starts in the middle of the the Sixties and which finishes in the middle of the the Seventies. One counts among the topics approached mobilities beatnik and Hippie, the psychotropic ones, the American Rêve, the culture (with an interest shown for the counterculture ) and the American policy as well as the South America.
