Grease

Grease (in French: brilliantine ) is a Musical comedy written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. It was popularized by the film which was drawn from it and which left to France in September 1978, with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.

John Travolta had already acquired a certain notoriety for his role in the Fever of Saturday evening ( Saturday Night Fever ), but it was Grease which really returned it celebrates. The original soundtrack of the film - which mixes Rock-and-roll, Boogie-woogie and Musique of varieties - was “number one” of the sales in many countries (of which France with " You' Re the one that I want " and more than 1.800.000 sold copies and one of best the sales the individual ones in France and in the United Kingdom).

A continuation ( Grease 2 ) was carried out in 1982, but it had much less success.

Subject

This musical comedy is built on the topic of the culture of the Années 1950 in the American colleges - high school .

During the summer 1958, Sandy , which is on vacation with the the United States, meets Danny , the gang leader of the T-Birds . Their love is however stopped by the end of the holidays when Sandy must turn over in Australia.

However, the chance wants that Sandy remains in America and that she attends the college Rydell , the same one as that where studies Danny . It meets a group of girls there named Pink Ladies and is made friends quickly of them. Without knowing their chance, Danny and Sandy tell each one on their side to their friends their love of holidays. Danny and Sandy ends up meeting and decides to take again their relation even if Danny is made trap by his/her friends by taking part and gaining the contest of dance with a girl whom he knew.

In parallel is played the competition between the gang of Danny - the T-Birds - and the gang of the Scorpions . They are defied with a race of cars.
