Gravediggaz

Gravediggaz (phonetically Gravediggers , the grave-diggers ) is a group of founded Rap American in 1993 by Prince Paul ( The Undertaker , i.e. the grave-digger), producer inter alia group Of the Drunk person, RZA ( RZArecta , literally the resurrector , which brings back deaths to the life), leader of the Wu Tang Clan, Frukwan ( The Gatekeeper , the guard of the door), of the group Stetsasonic and Poetic, ( The Grym Reaper , the mowing , i.e. Death).

Their first album, left in 1994 pennies the title 6 Feet Deep ( 6 feet under ground ) in America, Niggamortis (word game between the cadaveric rigor, rigor mortis , and the term nigger ) in Europe, creates a style which one describes as horrorcore with his morbid esthetics, his film environment of horror and his black humor. Some external rappeurs and musicians are invited on certain titles.

In 1997, leaves their second album, The Pick, the Sickle and the Shovel ( the pickaxe, the sickle and the shovel ), which is much more considered than the precedent opus. Prince Paul almost does not take part in the design of the disc.

July 15th, 2001, Poetic dies of a cancer of the colonist. Nevertheless, the group does not stop and an album, without Prince Paul nor RZA, entitled Nightmare in A-Minor ( Cauchemar in the minor ) will leave a few months later.

Little time after the exit of this last opus, Frukwan announced the exit of an album proposing of the pieces of Poetic ever left hitherto. But the project seems abandoned.

Rumors courrent as for a reformation of the group with Shabazz The Disciple succeeding Poetic but on its side Prince Paul does not wish to take part in any new recasting of Gravediggaz.
