Gratien Gélinas

Gratien Gélinas (December 8th 1909 with Saint-Tite - March 16th 1999) is a author, a Dramaturge, a director, a producing and an administrator Québécois. He is regarded as one of the founders of the Théâtre and the Film Québécois contemporary.

Biography

Gélinas follows the classes of the college to Montreal and is directed then worms of the commercial studies. Initiated with the artistic life since 1929 by the Theater amateur, it founds even its troop with former comrades of the College of Montreal, Gélinas becomes professional actor in 1936.

He writes in 1948 his more famous novel: Tit-Cock , which will be adapted thereafter to the cinema.

It Marie with Huguette Oligny in 1973. He is the grandfather of Mitsou Gélinas. Another of its grand-daughters, the auteure Anne-Marie Sicotte, devoted a biography in 1995-1996 to him.
