Granulocyte
see also: Etymology of Granulocyte
The granulocytes , called formerly “polynuclear” because some of between-them - the granulocytes neutrophiles - seemed to have several cores, are white globules qualified “the nonspecific ones” insofar as they are not directed against only one Antigène. There exist 3 categories of granulocytes: eosinophilic S, the Neutrophile S and Basophilic S, this denomination being based on their affinity to absorb dyes containing éosine, neutrals or basic (dye MGG = May-Grünwald Giemsa).
Their roles are also different in the body:
- the granulocytes neutrophiles are phagocytes, i.e. cells able to swallow and digest the antigens commes the bacteria. As their name indicates it, they have granules which can be exocytés (poured out of the cell) in order to limit the ignition to the place of the Infection
- the basophilic granulocytes attract the other white globules by pouring the Histamine contained in their granules. This histamine activates the inflammatory reaction and also intervenes in the allergic reactions
- the granulocytes eosinophilic secrete substances which tend to limit the action of the histamine of the basophilic granulocytes. Their role is to attack the parasite S of the organization, without the phagocyter: they are fixed above, pour their granules which contain Enzyme S intended to destroy them.
